Compressed NFTs (cNFTs) on Solana use Merkle trees to store metadata off-chain — minting costs drop from ~$1+ per NFT to fractions of a cent. Best for mass mints (loyalty programs, gaming, free claims). Tradeoff: not all marketplaces support cNFTs.
Do NFT royalties actually work in 2026?
EIP-2981 is the standard but enforcement depends on the marketplace. OpenSea enforces, Blur and X2Y2 made it optional. We can implement on-chain royalty enforcement (transfer hooks, allowlisted marketplaces) where it's a deal-breaker for your project.
Can NFTs have changing metadata (dynamic NFTs)?
